AUDLAND – A Light Within Every Person
Pennswood’s “A” Building
Quakers believe there is “that of Light/God/Love/Truth within each person.
John Audland (d. _____) was a farmer, a textile merchant, and a preacher. He became a “seeker” after “spiritual truth” during the time of the Protestant Reformation that was happening throughout Europe. Audland heard George Fox speak about “the living, dynamic, spiritual presence” in the world and in everyone, and he grew to be a “convinced” Quaker. Audland soon became a spokesperson for the Quakers, along with other men and women (called “the Valient Sixty”) who traveled throughout England spreading the message that “the Creator has endowed each of us with the divine presence—all life is sacred.”
Quakers are champions for freedom of expression, freedom of religion, and equal justice before the law.
